Words

A Poem by Kerry Orchard

Photo by Josep Castells on Unsplash

They spill from honeyed lips,

softly, softly,

dripping venom,

floating wraithlike; chill breeze,

innuendo’s, misconceptions.

Twisting knife,

daggers thrown,

taunting, teasing torment,

double edged; bleeding.

Laughing accusation,

translucent, fluid,

drowning,

delicate endangered entity,

Truth.

Heated fury now coals,

fires burned; death,

ethereal drift and settle,

amongst dying ash.

As Phoenix, rise again,

deafening, crippling, cruelly

heard,

your words.
